Encaustic is an ancient technique of painting with molten beeswax and pigment. Each layer is fused with heat, creating texture, depth, and a luminous surface unique to this process.

ABOUT SUE

A Boston native with degrees in Graphic Design and Early Childhood Education, Sue has been creating art throughout her life. Her artistic journey evolved from working with acrylics to embracing the world of collage art, and more recently, exploring encaustic painting—creating vibrant works using melted wax.

Inspired by the natural beauty of New England and the Gulf Coast of Florida, Sue's art captures the essence of these landscapes, blending them with elements of fantasy. Her early career in graphic design spanned 20 years, after which she turned her focus to teaching art to young children. The whimsical and imaginative worlds of children's book illustrators like Eric Carle, Ezra Jack Keats, and Aaron Becker influence her work deeply. Sue has designed a variety of art pieces for children's rooms, preschool lobbies, and classrooms, bringing her creative vision into spaces where imagination thrives.

Sue's work is also displayed at The Brick Gallery with the Marion Cultural Alliance in Ocala, FL. Now based in Florida, Sue continues to sell and exhibit her work, sharing her love for art with a broader audience.

SEE WHAT  PEOPLE SAY

We had 2 paintings done by Susan; one of a Hula dancer and the other of our favorite beach in Hawaii. They came out beautiful, colorful and authentic. We love the whimsical and impressionist feel that Susan achieves using torn paper in creating her art work.
